I run both McAfee and Webroot on my devices. Both are throwing warning msgs. I'm guessing it's from content from advertisers.

I took to my old laptop to post this. Anyone else getting alerts?

If you have both active at the same time they are conflicting with each other. The same thing happened to me with Mc Afee and Windows Defender. Turn the Webroot off and see if that helps

McAfee is giving me the same msg Vicky is getting but opens ECCIE. Webroot won't open it up unless I give an "OK".

Too much a stake to lose on the desktop so guess I'll be accessing via the laptop.

If it's not from your security software, it's malware attacking your system. It tries to fool you into doing something that will harm your system. Close the message immediately. Never do what it tells you to do. If need be, turn off the system. When you restart it, it will take a bit longer than usual, but almost always the malware will be gone. If not, it's time to talk to a professional.
Run Linux.

Make your hobby/porn user a standard user only.(no admin/su/sudo)

problem solved.

You might try the free version of AVG, which I have used for years both on FF and on Chrome browsers. Need to closely manage your browser "add-ons" at times.

Sometimes a few complications with downloading windows updates not downloading (like I miss having IE whatever number! (NOT!)

If you have continued issues you might consider running a "restore" on both lap and desk units and see if that ends the issues. Quite possibly you have downloaded something you really didn't want to download. Note: if you are updating certain softwares, these might try to give you McAfee even if you don't want to have it.

Actually, the latest version of Chrome has good protection built in.. and popup blockers as well.
