Flu concerns and cancellation practices

I was reading this thread about various cancellation reasons given by both providers and clients and the "calling in sick " reminded me of my experience:

I got a bad case of flu while hobbying last fall... around this time of the year and it took me more than a month or two to get rid of my cough ... and was out of the hobby for that time ... I took my flu shots this year, lol ... And did not returned to the specified provider since.

1. What is the opinion/practice with flu shots here in the eccie community...?

2. I would much more prefer to get the cancellation notice than get the flu, noticed after the fact. Actually it would be a great sign of professionalism, IMHO. I would do the same, with enough time in advance - I play only in the evenings.
What would you do if you feel like coming down with the flu the morning of the appointment? get some Tylenol or cancel? And, if on the other end, would you be vexed or grateful for a cancellation?
