Must have been one hell of a concert
Since I’m probably among the oldest around here, it is likely that my musical tastes will be judged ancient and unhip - especially to someone as young as Mary. My musical tastes are reflected in what I listen to when I drive. Out of both laziness and habit, I have had the same 6 discs loaded in my car’s CD changer for several years now. They are:
  • Ella Fitzgerald: The Songbooks
  • Nat King Cole: Love Songs
  • Anne Murray: Croonin’
  • Judy Collins: Classic Broadway
  • Renee Fleming: Signatures – Great Opera Scenes
  • Eva Cassidy: Songbird
BTW, if you have never heard of Eva Cassidy, you’re not alone. She was an unknown singer from the Washington DC area when she sadly died of melanoma in 1996 at age 33. She was discovered posthumously, first in the UK when BBC Radio played her beautiful rendition of “Over the Rainbow”, and later in the US when ABC Nightline featured her story. I love her voice, and I treasure the few precious recordings that she made during her all-too-brief life.

I would have to say that Classic Rock is my favorite, Fleetwood Mac being what I most enjoy listening to. I just can't seem to get enough of Stevie Nix. On the reverse I would have to say that I can't stomach listening to Rap of any kind. Country Western is a close 2nd in favorite listening, Reba McIntyre is exclusively responsible for that, love them redheads!

Any thing not Diso, or the now so called Dance Music, and rap is not music IMO. If I want to dance Steve Miller or Glenn Miller will do.

I was at the death of diso pardy in brockports diso bar. Bar was drank dry by 10:30. The place was destroyed and never reopeded as planned as a rock and roll bar.

Although I like most everything (except Country!), I've always enjoyed metal the best.

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold....all good in my book!
Hard to pick favs with music with so many genres...Music to me is like sex even when it's bad it still is a lil good

I'd say classic rock and oldies, The stations I have set are TK99 and WSEN. Some country. Naming a few groups and singers The Beetles, Roy Orbison, America, Simon and Garfunkel, Carpenters, John Denver, Johnny Cash,The Mamas and Papas. I just love Cass Eliot which tells you my preference in women. Carly Simon. Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, The Eagles, Jewel, Gordon Lightfoot.

I don't like rap even though it fits my definition of music, I put blue grass in the same class but on the other end of the spectrum. I don't like the Country of the fifties, to twangy for me. I never minded disco, maybe because there always seemed to be women around it.
Hot babes that sing that I like are Neko Case, solo stuff and sings for the New Pornographers, Candy Kane 70's-80's porn star turned blues singer
At a recent music festival I saw Hot Club of Cowtown, western swing and jazzy/ rockabilly and Fishtank Ensemble gypsy jazz flamenco, both acts front women both sexy and hot and sing and play.
Raconteurs, White Stripes, Dead Weather all Jack White projects.
Hey Jack- Where's LiL Wayne, Biggie Smalls, TI and Wu Tang, as you inadvertently left them off your list.
