So Goodell's contract expires in 2019 and his new contract,if it's given, is being worked on by the committee that handles his contract. While Jones isn't part of this committee, he had thrown a wrench in the works, causing the deal to get delayed.

They, whoever they is, say it's not because of the Elliot issue. Jones feels the new contract isn't a very good deal, "they" say.

I think it's exactly the reason. Jones is not Kraft. He is a dirty fighter. He has said in the past, when asked about salary caps, that the amount of money he would be willing to dole out to win another superbowl is well, in his words, "you really don't want to know."

This isn't even going against his cap.

He sees Elliot's suspension as a huge threat against his chances at another superbowl. Scuttling a juicy deal for Goodell doesn't seem like it's too far fetched.

I really wonder, even IF the NFL drops the issue, will Goodell's contract still be I'm question.

Is it time for a new commissioner?

It's crazy how much he is making. Think it was like $44 million per year. And the new contract will only be higher. His power needs to be reign in a little. He really doesn't do much.
Goodell through different TV deals has made the owner a lot of money, he however is not worth 44M. When you consider the talented people with diverse business interest that would take that job the League could pay half that and get the same result. There is some finishing return after $20+M in compensation, in other words an exec worth $20 is going to do as good of a job as anyone pains north of that amount.

I think it would be beneficial to the owners to do so. Obviously the NFL will protect its image and pocket books. However, the seemingly arbitrary way Goodell has dealt out punishment, certainly has to make owners look at installing some structure to how that punishment is dealt and for what reasons.

In cases like Ray Rice, the public image may or may not have tanked had he been allowed to continue to play and potentially cause the league financial losses.

Goodell initially gave a laughable punishment. PR went to the shitter, he only THEN "discovered" domestic violence was a problem in the league.

Then deflate gate. 4 games with circumstantial evidence and plenty of experts saying there could be any one of a gazillion explanations for the ball pressure change.

Look at the 2 sentences. One with damning video, and if charges were pressed, real jail time could have been served, a two 2 game suspension was initially dealt out. It was then increased to a number that Baltimore decided to release him. Then there is 4 games for Brady.

I believe there was only a 2 game difference between a possible misdemeanor, if not felony assault and deflating some fucking balls.

That's like a judge giving double life for murder but only a mere life sentence for petty larceny.

I'm not sure if Goodell didn't just throw darts at a board to decide the number of games to suspend them for.

Will Joe Mixon get treated as harshly? Again there is video with more than damning evidence, yet he still plays.

Why has Goodell not thrown down the hammer of justice there?

At least 6 games are due for suspension if he is just trying to at least be consistent with other cases that do show evidence and that could damage the leagues image. He isn't though.

Goodell is consistent as the most flakey, YMMV backpage whores .

I hope Jones does get the sorry prick ousted.

Then you have josh brown from the beloved giants that got the one game suspension for a lot worst than any of them. Goodall and his cohorts go back and levees a stiffer punishment on him now that he is no longer a giant and not even in the league anymore because they feared how bad they look if anyone compared the two or punishments. .
NFL players have never had a collective bargain agreement in their favor and have never been the brightest athletes. The owners own them with the honor of playing in this high risk for injury league. Duh...compare their salaries to other pro sports that actually guarantee a contract. Not in the Jones and Goodall world. So they will always agree. It's all about the money not Super Bowls lol. Jones has his pride (fire Jimmy) and will talk about championships. It's the bottom line that makes him tick

He don't care his running back is an idiot abuser. He is a cheap idiot
