I've been hobbying for a long time, and I have found zero correlation between cost and enjoyment. Assuming you have to pay $1K for a great session is just silly. Heck, assuming you have to pay $250 is silly.

Hobbying is like enjoying any other art form. Artists and aficionados of $10,000 paintings will tell you how much it's worth it, but only you can decide whether one pricey piece makes you happier than a group of more affordable paintings.
