Bjorn Lomborg wrote an interesting editorial that appeared in the Wall Street Journal on Friday. It's about a paper published in the respected journal Lancet, that's gotten a lot of press coverage. It claims rising temperatures have increased global heat deaths among people aged over 65 by 68% over two decades. Lomborg notes that the authors failed to note that the population of people over 65 had increased by 60% over two decades. So the increase in heat deaths was almost entirely due to the increase in the population! That's an incredibly stupid oversight.

Lomborg goes on to say that many more people die from cold than die from heat. He estimates that the higher temperatures cause about 17,000 more heat deaths in older people. But more than 500,000 fewer deaths from cold!
