Whats with the banners/ads

Mods: Whats with the banners/ads across the top of the page. Since these things started to appear surfing this board is at a crawl for me. Takes for ever to return to the previous pages. It's not my computer causing the problem. I know advertising brings in money, but this seems to defeat the purpose here.

I installed AdBlock for my browsers and haven't had to deal with them since!

It just took me a few clicks and I don't see any of them.
