Yes, Buffalo and Syracuse tax $2.00 a dance. I am not sure about Rochester, NY. Hope this helps. NYS has a budget problem and they will take income anywhere they can find it. EA.
NYS is already collecting a "sales tax" on the dances.
The reason the dances went from $20 to $22 a copuple of years ago was to cover the tax.
The tax is NOT $2. The tax is the current sales tax rate (9%? which would equal $1.80 on a twenty dollar dance).
So the clubs just added $2 to cover themselves.
Some clubs now charge $25, so they should be putting away approx $2.25 for each dance.
Not sure how much of this actually makes it's way to NYS coffers.... but all clubs are paying something where they once paid nothing.

That being said, if NYS could figure out a way to tax you every time you took a shit... they would.

They do; it's called the water and sewer tax
