Jaco for NYE - Solo traveler

I was thinking of doing a solo trip down to Jaco, possibly overnight in San Jose when I fly in/out. How is the action for NYE? is Jaco better than San Jose for the holiday? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

San Jose is dead during the holidays, Jaco is fun. It will be very crowded so you will need to book a place to stay in advance.
