I was just reading a post on Twitter about how providers should never ever use protection provided by the client because you just don't know where it's been. The example I saw was a picture of one with a staple placed through the wrapper. Then again, I've read stories of providers not being prepared so I guess BYOP is not a bad idea. I've only had it happen once and I was texted in advance, with an apology, to BYOP. She was traveling and, understandably, was unable to get to a drug store.

I brought an unopened box of three and she personally opened the box, so there was no doubt as to the safety. I also left the two we didn't use, so she got a nice addition to her stash! I've been burned a few times in the past when providers expected BYOP but never bothered to tell me, so I've started to bring them, at least to first-time encounters.
