Visiting The RGV?

I want to visit the RGV again.
Its been over a year since I've last came to town.
I would love to catch up with a few of my old friends.
What areas are best to stay in now a days?
Any hotels that I should avoid?
I've read a few alerts and I've noticed there has been a few incidents.
Please any info would be helpful.
Also let me know if you think I should head that way this week.

Make a stop in Corpus
McAllen 10th street. It's near airport and you'll cover about 4 major cities in the area by staying there. Message me If you decide to visit.
I had fun recently there in the valley. Know a few good spots to stay at as well. I better plan my next trip down that way again soon.
