DDD in Texas.......Diners, Drive ins and Dives

Diners, Drive-in's and Dives that is!!
What are some local spots that serve great food? Of course I have to have some Texas BBQ. What's the best BBQ spot?
I love to cook and one of the ways I get my inspiration in the kitchen is by trying new and different foods.
5 star to hole in a wall, it doesn't matter if its good, its GOOD!
What part of town are you in? Bishop Arts District and the Dallas Design District contain a few of my current favorites. Both areas are south and west of downtown Dallas. If you're in Ft. Worth, lucky you!

On the Dallas side, I would suggest Hard 8 BBQ in Coppell.

On the Fort Worth side, I really like Cousins.

Mike Anderson's BBQ on Harry Hines is a pilgrimage for many including me. Around 11:30 im often inside somewhere nursing a bottle of their BBQ sauce.
+1 on Hard 8 for BBQ

I think BBQ in Dallas comes down to Pecan Lodge and Slow Bone. I favor Pecan Lodge, but both are quite good, though well behind Central Texas BBQ temples like Louie Mueller's, etc.

American Idiot correctly identifies Aw Shucks as a good option. Oysters are fair and the shrimp cocktail is quite good.

Ditto on the recommendation for Hard 8. A few blocks east is the original Coppell Deli for great bacon cheese burgers. The same burgers can also be had at Delman's in Coppell which also has full bar.

North Main BBQ in Euless is really good. Not a chain and only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday til 4 p.m. If you are near DFW airport it is worth checking out. Check out their web page.
