Where to stop in North & South Dakota?

I've been considering taking a road trip this summer across the Dakotas. I've been considering staying in some cities for fun along the way utilizing my unlisted small-cities rates. If someone were to playfully make her way across the Dakotas, I imagine these are the cities to stop in?

N. Dakota
• Fargo
• Grand Forks
• Bismarck
• Minot

S. Dakota
• Rapid City
• Pierre
• Sioux Falls

I'm surprised STG is so popular in these places. I had imagined P411, PD, Tryst and even Eros.
