My messages are not saving

They used to save until my box was full at like 1500. Now they arent and i have 100 msg to view but the page with the bars shows over 1000 and the little green space is getting smaller. I have to keep deleting in order it to not show as full. I need to go back and reference messages...help

Check your Sent Items folder, that could be where the majority of your storage is being used.
