Best/Worst area to get a room in Seattle and Bellavue

I've never visited Washington before but I plan to SOON.



I noticed there are a bunch of hotels by the airport but the airport and those hotels don't necessarily look to be IN Seattle but moreso south in a smaller bordering town.



I would like to find a big chain hotel, with free parking. But I'm not sure what area I should look and where should I avoid ....please help.

I only visit Bellevue and there are a lot of nice hotels
I have heard airport not the place to be ..
