Aw man. A true loss. This man was a brilliant musician. I had the opportunity to see him live at the Newport JVC Jazz Festival a few years back. I still have the hat!

RIP

I just saw the story posted on Lucianne.com. I had a feeling you'd post on it. The world will still be listening to Brubeck in a hundred years; I doubt that Kanye West and Jay-Z will make the cut.

Saw him live in Austin decades ago. Almost no musical heros left for me...

Brubeck's gone, the Count is gone, Ella's gone, Frank's gone, Duke's gone, Louis' gone, Kenton's gone, and so many more have left us. I just posted "The Christmas Song" by Mel Torme in another thread. Another genius who left us too soon.

The current crop of "stars" are unworthy to tie their shoes.

Another great one from Dave Brubeck:

RIP Dave ...

Brubeck was so popular, he made it to the cover of Time Magazine in 1954. For a lifetime of contributions to American culture, Brubeck was made a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2009.
