Government Motors Spends $600M on UK Soccer Promo

Uh, GM? Here's a memo. You still owe the American taxpayer money. What the hell are you doing sponsoring a foreign soccer team? Did you check with your shareholders, meaning US?

I would think you would be completely in favor of GM (or anyone else) spending their advertizing dollars where they believe it will get them the biggest return on the investment.

If you argue that the $600M could be better spent elsewhere from an ROI perspective, fine. But what does that have to do with where that expenditure is? Would it be better for GM to spend that money domesticly but not make as big a profit for the shareholders?

If it was a charitable contribution I could agree with you--but it's a business decision.

They should be paying us back first. Before sponsoring foreigners. I don't remember the Brits coming to bail them out.

And thanks to Obama, I'm a shareholder in GM.

Better sell your shares. I drive a company car, a GM. Since the bailout the cars suck butt. Tie rods bent, front end suspension sucks ... the car eats tires. Brakes are squishy.

Let GM sponsor a Brit team. The only way there is any way for you to make any money is if GM can sell their wares/crap overseas.

I'm trying to get Obama to sell our shares, but he's waiting for the stock price of the company he "saved" to rise.
