Mod power

So the Tdot discussion got shut down because the Mods do not want to be commented on? Well guess I will bow my head and get back in line.

Yes, I'm sorry it was my fault. Once someone starts joking around about Romans and Greeks, that will do it every time.

Not kissing a$$, but having moderated a sports Web forum before, I can say it is a no easy task, especially, I'm guessing, on a board dedicated to these activities. We are an eclectic bunch doing what we do! The Internet is still the wild Wild West where anonymity encourages 'interesting' behavior. I'm just glad someone is willing to do it... I certainly wouldn't.

Note: not commenting on any issue specifically or making any judgment, just an observation.

I don't know what happened in that thread, but I will say this. I've found that most guys on these types of boards are the best of friends with a MOD when the MOD is working in his favor, once the MOD does something the guy doesn't like, its open season on the MOD. I don't know if that's the case in this instance though.

If anyone of the guys who post on the board think they can do a better job than Marcus, send an email to the owner and ask to be considered for a MOD position. MOD's volunteer their time to keep everyone in line and keep people from letting too much info out there.

I'll also add this too because I learned it the hard way, the owner and other MODs don't take kindly to threads being posted out in the open that insult a MOD. It gets you points.

I'm guessing JB closed that post down because 1. He doesn't tolerate bullshit. He's an old time MOD who knows what he's doing. 2. That review was insulting a MOD. 3. He was probably trying to save some of you from getting points and/or banned depending on if any of you were close in points to being banned.

Do I think Marcus is the best MOD? My answer doesn't really matter because MOD's volunteer their time. But, I will say that everytime I needed help or had questions of a MOD, I have no problems finding a MOD on the board. I don't always go to Marcus because I have better working relationships with other MODs.

Their house.....their rules.

Actually everything that needed to be said was said in the thread, and John closed it before things got out of hand.

I also moderated a board back a long time ago. It is all volunteer, and most of the time people behave themselves pretty well. Once in a while a person that is normally good just has had a string of frustrating things happen, and a faceless internet board is an easy way to let of steam.

Just to bring things up to date; the thread was closed for consultation with the Staff as a whole. It is now reopened per their advice and civil posts will be allowed as always.
