Anyone figure out a way around the new tax & no delivery by mail. This is bad news.

Well, since you asked, discontinuing smoking would solve the problem. I suspect that idea was considered and rejected though. Just in case it wasn't , I thought I would throw it out there.....
Hit the Indian smoke shop about 14 miles south of Syracuse on the east side of the interstate. Buy lots there.

I dont go the reservation, but I just made a choice to start going after a friend told me about the prices for their generic "Niagra" Cigarettes. I tried one of their menthol smokes and it was just as good as the marb menthols I smoke. I am going to make a trip this weekend, a carton is $18 as opposed to over $8 per pack for the marbs at hess.

That being said lets hope the Indians fight it like they did in the 80's and 90's.

Here is an excerpt I found from an article online. I am willing to donate 4 old tires I have laying in my garage to their cause. <snicker>

New York's Legislature on Monday also sought to reduce the sale of tax-free cigarettes from tribes to non-Indians. That goal has eluded three previous governors and prompted threats of violence in the 1980s and 1990s, including the temporary closing of the state Thruway through Indian land when it was blocked with burning tires and debris.
"It's an act of war," J.C. Seneca, a Seneca Nation councilor, told The Buffalo News. Seneca said Paterson has chosen a "path of controversy and confrontation, (and) if anything happens, it's on their hands."

I am guessing that the tax only effects the brand name cigarettes. Anyone who is able to switch to Indian brands I think can escape the taxes.

Well the environmental wacko's will tell you just about everything is going to kill you, but I believe that should be our own choice, not the govt. I have already stocked up for the year by getting them from the Seneca's thru the mail, but that stops in a few days. The Onieda Nation price for my brand is $14 more a carton at the present time. I don't believe the Onondaga Nation is any cheaper. I'll figure something out eventually.
