They're both being idiots, and darn lucky they didn't cause an accident..That
being said, the driver of the SUV did come up with a clever solution!

This is why I just mostly let people in when they're trying to merge. It's too much of a hassle not to, then stuff like this or worse can happen.

It has just always seemed a whole lot less effort to me to simply be considerate on the road. I feel for the passenger in the offending car.

Twice I've been stuck on the passenger side of a car being driven by someone with road rage issues. Both were girlfriends.
The first incident almost got us shot at due to my bipolar gf's behavior and the 2nd (My last gf) got us the bird. It was embarrassing. She had the nerve to call the person whom she was cutting off an asshole.

That actually was the decisive point to me that the relationship was over. I don't want that kind of negative energy in my personal space. It rubs off and becomes contagious whether we realize it or not.
