A number of questions....

How frequently do gringo tourist guys get rolled (screwed in the bad way) by prostitutes they pick up in bars? (I mean anything from upselling to backing out on an agreement to blackmailing to worse). Is it common?

How many speak English well? How difficult does the language barrier make things?

Say you're at the Del Rey, what is the hottest chick in the place gonna run you? Same question for Cocal?

Will she go with you to your hotel, and if so, is she gonna charge you more?

For both Del Rey and Cocal, if you're not staying at either place, how much does it complicate things or make them more expensive?

Do CR girls charge more for things like kissing, GFE, anal and if so how much?

How is the scene different, both better and worse, at the Cocal in Jaco as compared to Del Rey in San Jose?

General answers:

As a rookie stay at either the Sportsmens Lodge or La Amistad. The latter offers rides on a bus to Jaco but girls hang out at the Sportsmens. La Amistad is 3 minutes walking distance away from the SL.

Getting taken advantage of may be be 10 to 15% in San Jose IMHO. Colombian women tend to hold the line at higher prices and take advantage of newbies. They will quote 100 dollars and more and will rarely budge on pricing. In SJO the highest will quote 150 but most accept 100.

Most helpful to know Spanish otherwise would say 50% speak enough English to get by. You need to negotiate exactly what you want or the ladies may skip activities. Like BBBJ vs CBJ, kissing... Sportsmen girls perform at higher expectation and most there do speak English.

Going between established hotels is no issue for the ladies. Just keep your room clear of valuables and most hotels offer safes. Oh, take your own TP.

BTW I have limited experience in Jaco so most of my answers apply to SJO.

If staying in Del Rey, the hotel will charge you a guest fee for every time you take a girl to your room. Believe to be around 20 bucks.

Buy groceries and supplies from Mas y Menos (Walmart) to save money. Bring your own condoms to be sure.

Anal is rare but some girls will for up selling. Negotiating overnights is possible but ladies will leave at 5am to get back to their families early.

Study CRT and you can't go wrong.

The Pirates Club is a good strip club but few girls speak English. Is a cab ride away from SL or Del Rey.

You may make new friends at hotel bars who may hang with you as a wingman for hanging out, advice and such. Find US retirees who live there.

Careful of pickpockets in public areas. Can ruin your trip. If in doubt of a girls age don't do it! Legal system does not favor gringos.
