Truth is, I'm confused about this immigration ruling.

This latest SCOTUS ruling says that President Obama's executive order was illegal. Or at least he overstepped his authority. The ruling goes back to the Appeals Court's ruling, so the States that brought the suite won.

But here is something I don't understand. The executive order more or less in simple terms, stated that parents of children who were born here would not be subject to deportation, even though those parents were here illegally.

The problem is, you can't deport a US Citizen. These children are citizens, period.

If you deport the parents, who takes care of the children.

Of course, this is all our faults. Democrats want a new class of underclass to pander to and get votes from, many Republicans want cheap labor. So we just let anybody across the border that can make it across.

But we still, legally, cannot deport legal US Citizens.

What's the answer to this mess, or has that ship left port long time ago.

You would think that at the very least the Government would do something to fix this mess so at least we can stop the flow now.
It's worse than that. Obama told the Border Patrol to let many in. They just need to say the right words. Then they never show up for court. Then they get free housing, free healthcare, free food, free education. ad nuseaum. Next they'll get a voter's card and handgun.

Transformation complete.

Cruel fucking world out there, I hear.

The children born of parents who are here illegally have criminals as parents. The kids can stay, the parents must go. It's not unusual to take children away from criminal parents.

If a person appears in court on a criminal case and they are here illegally, what happens to them? They are convicted and sentenced. They remain here.

The Judge can order them "deported"? No. No jurisdiction to do so.

According to the Constitution only the Congress can make immigration law. The SCOTUS confirmed that. Of course, Obama said that he was going to ignore the law and the court and refuse to enforce the law.

Yes, those parents can be departed and they can take their children with them (that is not technically deportation) or they can leave their children to legal relatives or friends. Some of those children are adults. Don't think that they are all rugrats. What would you do with two parents who were criminals? Excuse them for the sake of the children because we are ultimately talking about law breakers.

Obama was wrong, he broke the law but in politics it means never having to say you're sorry or how do you like your cellmate?

most of the parents came here to work, when they get kicked out and their kids are left here. . . then the state must take care of them till theyre 18.

Kicking the parents out actually costs the govbt money, plus a hard worker is lost and their tax revenue is lost.

If they are working and don't have any felonies or violent crimes they should be allowed to stay. . .at the very least with an extended work permit (as long as they stay productive members of society).
