So could do some reviews I suppose but just gonna throw out some info I found about where I am staying. Am currently at the Ambassador hotel in Hsinchu, about an hour away from the airport and downtown Taipei. Is a bit of a run down area compared to the area around the Grand Hyatt in Taipei. I have enjoyed walking around the neighborhood during daylight hours and some places after dark. I don't know that anywhere is unsafe particularly, but some of the places I have been in daylight I might not go in the dark. Anyway, there are quite a few massage places, some of which are 24 hour even. I have been to maybe 6 of them and was offered a happy ending at two and I suspect it would have been available on subsequent visits at two more. Prices for the massages varied from 1850 NTD ($62) for 90 minutes to 1200 NTD ($40) for 2 hours or 999 NTD for 70 minutes. The two ladies that offered a handjob did so for 500 NTD, or a little less than $17. One place pissed me off because I paid for the massage at the front desk in the beginning and then when I came back down almost 2 hours later she wanted me to pay. Again. The language barrier precluded any arguing from me, so I was stuck. Was an excellent massage even for double the advertised rate. Anyway, just wanted to encourage guys to get out in the neighborhoods near hotels (if it's safe) and check around to see whats there. There are a couple of others within easy walking distance that I may check out before I leave. I don't speak any Chinese but can tell from the pictures on the outside of the locations what might be going on inside.
Reviews and advice are great to have for this little known area. Hope to visit Taipei, mostly due to the favorable Eva fares to SE Asia. Along with mongering, the hotel info is helpful too.
Never visited TW, but feel safer in (Tokyo, HKG, Sing, BKK), than my home in US.
