I know a couple of the local artists, both on the excellent side. They both have stories of folks coming in that were not happy with previously exsisting work.
Anyway, the work must be good and must fit the persons persona.
One of my favs has three sections of very good garden type work. I quite enjoy wandering in her garden (yes the Zeplin song).
And, I've seen my share of work that does not fit the person, or simply bad work.
So for Dee's question, my answer is:
It depends.

Not a change of ever getting a good job if that shit can be seen in public. Everyone should have the intelligence to at least not have a tattoo on the neck or hands.
Not even a chance to go home to a family funeral because everyone she knows from her childhood will now know she is a whore.
There are times when everyone wants to at least look presentable in public and not encourage the talk that will follow showing a goofy tattoo that has no personal meaning to anyone.
Just getting a tattoo for the sake of having one; shows you have not other accomplishment than having a stupid tattoo.
