I've only been there once a few years ago, not sure if things have changed on which areas are good to stay and the areas to stay away from.. Lol.

What city will you be in? Santa Fe generally is safer and nicer than Abq and wealthier!!), but less populated. Plenty of areas in Abq are sketchy and best to avoid, but you can find decent areas (north nicer than south)
