Honestly, that sounds like the way to go.
However, Apple won't allow the application in their App Store, so it's an Android platform only app.
Here's their petition to Apple to allow it on there (which isn't going to do diddly):

I appreciate you sharing the app. It does sound cool, and a lot less retarded than the solution I posted. I'm just so glad to have ANY solution. I get a ton of unwanted texts, and I've never known a way to eliminate them until now. I figured there might be others in the same boat.
