When posting photos of people on here

This is a pubic service announcement:

Please be aware that photos contain EXIF data which is embedded into your photo.

To give you an example I examined a photo that Skittles posted on here to see if any data was there. Rest Assured Skittles no information about you is there, but I know you use a Nikon CoolPix camera, and I can tell at what speed, aperture, date/time etc the photo was taken.

Some cameras will embed more information, like the serial # of camera and if you have programmed it with your real world name it too will be in there.

My advice would be to either strip this information out of photos you wish to post on here, edit your camera so you traceable info is in there, or lastly get a new point and shoot camera and do not register the warranty card or input any info other than date and time.

PM me for info as to how to remove / Change the data.

PLEASE NOTE that photos posted in SHOWCASES are protected from the 'Right Click" so saving them to your local hard drive for examination of this information is 99% impossible. Depending on the browser, a user could harvest the image file from their temp files and try to see the information
I use my cell phone.......... Does it do that through your phone also...................??

do this, download onto your PC IRFANVIEW then get the METADATA plugin.

Once you have that open a photo with IrFanView.. click on the blue button with the letter "i" on it.. then click on the EXIF button to see what information is stored in the photo.
^^^^ Damn good point OP..... A buddy also told me before taking pics to turn off my Locator on my phone so the pics don't get stored with the location I am at......

Makes sense....

Good info brother

I do know that my cell camera logs data when I take a pic unless my GPS is off, but I also have automatic upload to the Cloud, so I imagine my scenic location could be tracked from that if it ever really mattered.

Let's go all CSI/Mythbusters and separate sci fi from reality!
Maybe posting up some session pics with agencies' bedroom locations shown would wake up the sleeping.
I don't know what Wakeup's issue is but the less information you unwillingly or unknowingly give out the better. PM me for a way to fix EXIF data
