UT Basketball

My season tickets came. I'm looking forward to season where we make the tourney and don't go out so quick. This is a veteran team with 5 seniors and 5 Juniors. I can't believe we are ranked 33rd in preseason polls. This is a top 20 team.

UT vs Washington tomorrow night at 9 PM on ESPN. The game being played in China. How neat for our players. Talk about a long flight. They have been there all week. I wonder how they keep up with school?

I'm really looking forward to seeing Texas play this year.

After a shit 1st game and a loss to Washington, I'm hoping they blow out Corpus Christie tonight .for their home opener. I'll be there. The 3 Freshman had a dreadful shooting night in China. Something like 3-30. The paper said season ticket sales jumped about 10% with Smart coming in, even though that dipshit Patterson raised ticket prices 20% and now you have to pay for parking.

Here's my take after being there live and watching Texas beat but not dominate TX A&M -Corpus Christie. We are eratic as hell. I know Smart promotes "havoc" but we had more turn overs than they did. We go for every steal and go for every block shot leaving offensive rebounds open. I think CC had >20 offensive rebounds and they are nobody. These freshman that are supposed to be good suck. Especially Mack. He reminds me of Barnett last year. long skinny 6-6 frame with good looking stroke that never goes in. And he's soft. If not for Felix and Lamert hitting 7-9 behind the arc we might have lost last night. He frantically substitutes so no continuity ever. I swear when somebody does something good he takes them out. I know he wants fresh legs all game but damn. Felix hit 3 jumpers in a row and he takes him out. That's when he was the only one hitting. Ridley looked good and seemed more aggressive which was nice to see 14 points, 14 REB.

I'm pissed I can't watch the Horn's play in PR. The games have been on some bullshit channel Time Warner doesn't carry.

2-3 start. That freshman Mack is 3-35 or something like that.

Like you, I really thought that UT's basketball team would be top 25 easily. Lots of experience, plenty of big men, solid guards. But they are missing team chemistry. Too much run-and-gun but when they have to slow it down and look for shots in the half court offense they do not have any consistent flow. Too many players looking for their shot with no thought of setting someone else up. Unless Smart can get UT to play as a team, which I believe he can, UT will beat the patsies on the schedule and lose to other teams with equal talent.

Great beat down of a crappy team last night. 116-50. Our bench scored 74 including end of the bench scrubs that brought the house down scoring. Everybody played and everybody scored. Great use of UTSA on the schedule to get confidence up. Now for NC on Sat.

Just got back from the buzzer beater against NC! What a game! Texas is going to be tough this year!

Texas 16-4 offensive rebounding advantage was huge. Shooting 12-24 from the 3-point line didn't hurt either. I'm really liking what Shaka Smart is doing with this Texas team.

I noticed Smart didn't give Mack or Yancy much time in NC game. Lammert was a total beast along with Ridley. Prince Ibeh has been the biggest surprise (in a bad way) this year. He fouls about every 90 seconds he plays. I really thought he would flourish in this system. I know he can't shoot but is very athletic. His blocks are way down from last year. Best surprise-Cam Ridley.

Taylor saved our ass from a loss with Stanford. Great game with another last second shot.

Went to the Texas v UConn game. We couldn't hit anything. If it weren't for Freshman Tevin Mack we would of lost by 10. We sure miss Cam.
