How do I get references

I've been frequenting some of the local AMPs for about a year with mixed results. I'd like to try using an escort instead. I found ECCIE through a google search and there are some amazing looking escorts here but it looks like most (if not all) require references. This is understandable but it seems like a chicken and egg problem. How can a newbie get references?
