killeen eatery

Will be in killeen a couple days, any suggestions on non chain restaurants of killeen
Even though it has two locations (Cove, Killeen), C & H Hawaiian is a pretty darn good non "chain" place in my book.

Also, if you're looking for a hearty (heavy) meal, then Petty's bbq is always a good choice.

Good luck!

If you're into German food check out German Imbiss in Copperas Cove. They do the best German food I've had since Germany.

Really depends on the type of food you are looking for,

For burgers, I recommend Black Meg 43. They only have 5 locations total. 1 is in Killeen and 1 in Harker Heights. Best and most inexpensive Angus burger and fries you will ever find. ($6 will get you nice cheeseburger, fries and drink)

For Mexican, Tacqueria Mexico #2 in Killeen

For Chinese, Hunan Palace in Harker Heights. Not a chain and not a buffet.

For Greek, Acropolis in Haker Heights

For German, ad that we have a genuine German Bakery in Harker Heights (Pfeifer's) , also there is Opa's Schnitzel Hut in Harker Heights. Very small, limited menu, but darn authentic.

For BBQ, we have such a wide variety, but it is worth the 15 minute drive to Belton to Schoepf’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que . It was voted by Texas Monthly as one of the top 50 BBQ restaurants in the entire state.

For Italian, the only non-chain is Little Italy in Killen on Ft Hood Street.

I hope that helps and that you enjoy your visit.

Respectfully,

I prefer Billy Bob's Burgers over black meg, but the pricing is better with black meg.
Hunan Palace off Ft. Hood st. (best chinese is Taiwan Dragon, near downtown.
Best thai food i think is grandma's thai in harker heights, across from the HEB (it's sort of hidden)
Taqueria Mexico off Stan Schlueter across from the newest walmart is really good., best salsa around
C&H hawaiian is really good
I am not a fan of Schoepf's BBQ, Miller's BBQ in Belton is much better (can always run to Salado and hit up Johnny's)

Have to say Btown burgers in Belton is in my opinion the best around but Billy bobs is second. Also if you don't mind the drive there's Franklyns in the Austin area. Texas land and cattle redid their menu and they are on point. Schewans in cove is really good chinese. Then there's galaxy b&b in Killeen also

I give a third vote to Billy Bob's, they taste good and are huge. Something about holding that much meat in my hands reminds me of myself...
I love galaxy B&B, also if you don't mind the drive schoepf's BBQ in belton is really, really good too.

There is a great little hole in the wall BBQ place in Downtown Belton by the newspaper office. I can't remember the name, but it is really good. I think there is a park across the street.

Town, I believe you are thinking of Miller's bbq (which I thought I mentioned), another place I heard was really good was crow's burgers in belton .....I think all this is pretty late now, but then again other people could use this list if they're looking for a good place to grab a bite.

You need to get the Frito pie at Bowlerama. Just kidding. But you can't go wrong with Taqueria #2 on Veterans.
