Does Anyone Use Tor?

I came across an article on Yahoo Finance about protecting your online security:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/10-inc...155500405.html

It mentions a software bundle called "Tor" that is meant to protect online privacy by "bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, and it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location".

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with Tor and knows of any advantages or disadvantages to using it.

Thanks...
Yes. I am posting using TOR. Worst thing is that one should disable scripts so Java cant ask for your info (IP address &/or MAC address)

Asked and answered many times over. Do some research Forum-wide and you will get plenty of information.

And yes, Tor, is my friend, also.
The last sentence in the Yahoo article is "These are simple tips for basic privacy; if you’re in a high-risk situation where you require privacy from malicious actors, check out EFF’s surveillance self-defense tips." The last four words link to https://ssd.eff.org/
