To simply use or wanna try it out yes mac mini would be good.
You can also buy a macbook laptop (which you can connect to your 27 display) to use at home and also be able to take the laptop on the go.
3rd option is to get a mac pro desktop, but only if you're a performance user.
you'll be a snob and be frustrated for maybe a month, after that you'll love it. Originally Posted by RickyGshots

Should you buy a Mac Mini? Sure, if you need one. It's a great little computer. I've got several that I use a media players throughout the house, one I use as a stand alone computer for general use in my home office, one in the kitchen, one in the game room, and one in the music room for my kids. I also have a couple of PCs but rarely use them. It just my preference. Have fun with your new monitor. Originally Posted by joecmp

The MacSales link (bottom) is the adapter I use most of the time. The Apple Store sells them but I didn't see it listed on their site. Other online retailers sell 'em as well. Originally Posted by joecmp

I thought about getting a Mac Mini for $400 to get into the Apple ecosystem. Any thoughts about using Macs? Do you have one? What do you like or dislike about it? BTW, I was programming computers before most of our board members were born (mid to late 60's).
