Ted Cruz fact checked, caught lying about Obamacare canceling his insurance

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is in a critical primary election to become the presidential nominee for the Republican party. In an attempt to cater to conservative voters, Cruz recently made a claim that the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) caused all of his health insurance plans to be canceled.
Since his election in 2008, President Obama has been under fire from Republicans who have made it a mission to make his time in office as difficult as possible. After signing into law his landmark health care legislation, Obama has fought Republicans all the way to the Supreme Court to keep Obamacare the law of the land. During a campaign stop in Manchester, N.H. on Thursday, Cruz told a crowd of supporters that Obama's health care law was the cause of his lack of health insurance. The fact checking site Politifact researched his claims, and released the results of their findings on Jan. 22.
While speaking to the New Hampshire crowd, Cruz stated, "I’ll tell you, you know who one of those millions of Americans is who has lost their health care because of Obamacare? That would be me." Continuing, Cruz simply said "I don't have health care right now," and noting that his former provider Blue Cross Blue Shield canceled all of their plans in the the state of Texas at the end of 2015.
As Politifact noted, Blue Cross Blue Shield announced well before the deadline that the company would not longer provide PPO (Preferred Provider Organization), and in turn, would help "transition them (customers) to other available insurance plans for individuals so they would not experience a gap in coverage." Politifact elaborated further.
"The company continues to sell coverage all over Texas, according to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. The company also says individual customers like Cruz were notified months before 2016 changes—including an end to individual PPO plans--kicked in."
The final result of the fact checking was a "Pants on Fire!" rating for Cruz who Politifact notes, "was both incorrect about Blue Cross’ offerings in Texas and evidently characterized how his own coverage came to lapse." Despite yet another fact check gone wrong for Cruz, he is still running neck and neck with font runner Donald Trump in the important primary state of Iowa.
