Not taking sides, but when we have the two sides play brinksmanship and "what's best for me" instead of try to feach a rational compromise, this is what you get. Extremism and last minute, poorly thought out laws. That was very true with Obamacare--little if any honest discussion on either side. And there are many others.
Both parties have forgotten their obligation to govern, and now think the objective is to "win". Sad.
