The shit storm would last until November. The only way to get it over with is to not call witnesses. I think the Republican Senators have figured it out. Sit in the Senate for 10-12 hours a day for months and not go home because of Adam Schitt and the DNC, or not call witnesses make legislative progress and campaign.

Let me help you. You can't figure it out not because the Republicans are the gullible morons... Originally Posted by gnadfly

Any witness that is cross examined has to stay within the confines of what is stated in the Articles of Impeachment. So in all likely hood witnesses won't help the Democrats. The Republicans have the upper hand in this. The Articles of Impeachment were written poorly and were delivered to the Senate out of spite.

Sure put Mulvaney on the hot seat right along with the Whistle blower, after all it was the Whistle Blower also known as Eric Ciarmella who initiated this whole thing. I think the GOP needs to just stir the shit storm and get it over with. Originally Posted by Levianon17

Do you understand that Rudy got the Ambassador fired over false allegations?

"This whole thing" was initiated in Nov 2016 by a Fascist DPST party who could not stand the idea that they lost the election.

Ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the POTUS - and may be dismissed at any time for any reason.

Fake cnn nonsense does not apply - except in the imagination of the fascist DPST's.

Joe Biden said he had permission from President Obama to do it confirming the right ( I suppose ) of a President to make such a demand for the good of the country as in the "us" that President Trump used in his "request" not demand like Biden did.

In this case as in the Biden case, the government/ President wanted assurances that the Ukraine at the very least would look into possible corruption by the Biden's who everybody and I mean everybody in the Obama administration said had the "appearance of impropriety", something that has been used many times as reason to launch an investigation. The Democrats keep saying "no evidence of corruption by the Biden's was found" but that would take an investigation to make that proclamation true. In the words of the Democrats, "if the Bidens are innocent, what are they worried about"?

So we all know what President Trump did or in this case tried to do but didn't get, no statement from the Ukrainian President that an investigation would be started and released aid to Ukraine denied for 2 years by the Obama administration and now a 6 week delay in aid that nobody claims was actually detrimental to the war effort since Ukraine had the means to defend itself by virtue of the fact that there was no escalation by Russia, is suppose to be a National security concern when 2 years of no aid under Obama was not a security concern. Anybody paying attention knows these facts.

Get over it indeed!

The articles of impeachment and the content therein are official documents and any witness testimony or evidence presented must support the Articles of Impeachment that were presented to the Senate, in order for the Impeachment to be upheld in the Senate and president Trump officially removed from office. If this criteria can't be met the senate has an obligation to dismiss the case of Impeachment.

Here's a fun fact we found out yesterday. Adam Schiff now a House manager in the impeachment of Trump won his election against a House manager in the Clinton impeachment by complaining that his opponent was more interested in the "illegitimate" impeachment of Democrat Bill Clinton, than doing the work his constituents sent him to Washington to do! Can you hear the bells going off? DING! DING! DING! Could history repeat itself and Schiff be tossed out of the House for the same reason he was elected? Man, talk about karma and poetic justice.

And we also found out this

Schiff may have mischaracterized Parnas evidence, documents show

Unredacted material shows he may have referred to the wrong "Mr. Z."

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff appears to have mischaracterized a text message exchange between two players in the Ukraine saga, according to documents obtained by POLITICO — a possible error the GOP will likely criticize asanother example of the Democrats’ rushed effort to impeach President Donald Trump.

The issue arose when Schiff (D-Calif.) sent a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) last week summarizing a trove of evidence from Lev Parnas, an indicted former associate of Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. In one section of the letter, Schiff claims that Parnas “continued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky,” citing a specific text message exchange where Parnas tells Giuliani: “trying to get us mr Z.” The remainder of the exchange — which was attached to Schiff’s letter — was redacted.

But an unredacted version of the exchange shows that several days later, Parnas sent Giuliani a word document that appears to show notes from an interview with Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Burisma, followed by a text message to Giuliani that states: “mr Z answers my brother.” That suggests Parnas was referring to Zlochevsky not Zelensky.

Mischaracterization or a lie meant to deceive?

The Senators only "need" to hear and see the case presented and voted on by the House. And possibly as was the case with Clinton some filmed deposition clarifying information from individuals named and investigated in the House case.

Mulvaney(and others) don't meet that criteria. The House should have certainly done it's diligence.

Now, why should the whistleblower be excluded from being called for at least a filmed deposition for clarification.
