I frequent a place where a guy is at the counter half the time. He’s cool, and we are on a first name basis. He even recommends a new girl if my regular is busy or on a day off.

I used to frequent a place that had a male manager.

Guys at studios, especially behind the scene, setting the appointments, making the schedule, ect., and honestly, those studios are generally ran smoother/less drama.

Studio - LA, Sunflower, Pink, etc
AMP - Pearls, MShade, Old HH and NWH compound
SubAmps - the tons of Spa / Massage/ Rub n Tug Places

Sudio's and AMP - similar - L3 is expected
SubAmps - L0 - L1 typical. L2 & 3 if you know the girl or have more than typical cash'

The very definition of a studio is it has different girls working at the same location, just different rooms at the location, the difference is, the regular studios typically have White/Latina girls while AMPs have Asian girls (yes Korean girls are Asian), although there have been rare instances that White/Latina girls are spotted working at them and vice-versa.

The activities that go on during a session is of no consequence when it comes to the label.

The vast majority of these places that have guys that are there is some capacity, be it that they own it, provide security, help with scheduling, ect. Obviously, they do not make themselves known as just as the OP said, it is a boner killer.

I can see how it is less drama but...
If an independent escort had a male scheduler, it would be a red flag.
if a lady has a driver, its disliked and a possible red flag.
If a stripper has a guy that "holds" her money, that's a red flag.
If a streetwalkers pimp is in the next room, that would be weird, right?

What's the difference when its a spa/studio? legit question because im a nerd like that. I can see having a guy in the office for various reasons but out of sight, just not RIGHT there in front.
