References - How long is too long?

I am not a newbie but have been out of the hobby for 3 or 4 years. How old of a reference is too old? I don't want to bother people that probably don't remember me. Thanks

Excellent question, and thank you for asking it with context. I've verified fellows from the past, but really, no lady can attest to a gent's behavior or intentions after a year, and I let ref requests know that up front. People and situations change as time progresses. I've entertained you and you reviewed me back in 2010, but that is all I could reliably say to another lassie now as it's ancient history.

I've noticed a trend of providers not giving or accepting vouches over 6 months, so that appears to be the current max. Alas, you may have to be screened as if you're just entering our wicked world for the first time, my dear lad. There's a whole list stickied in ISO of newbie-friendly ladies. Either that, or start with a "renewal" visit to a provider you saw and wrote about way back when, which might be the most expedient approach.

Irish luck in lust!

I'd say 3 to 4 months is the cut off. You should always provide your 2 most recent encounters.

In your case, if you have a provider you saw many times and had built a rapport with years ago, if she is still around, reach out to her and see if she remembers you, it can't hurt.

Then she (if she is courteous) can let the current provider you'd like to see know that .... yes, she has seen you, it has been a few years, but you were a great guy during her encounters with you .... If she is a well known provider, her word alone may be good enough to get you screened.

You might not "remember" her either!

I would definitely say 6 months to a year is the cut off. If you had reviewed the provider, then me myself would accept a reference from longer out if she was still in the hobby and a well known, reputable provider

I don't accept any BP or agency references ever. Too inconsistent

From all the whining I've seen on here in the various forums a good percentage of the ladies don't even respond when another lady asks for an "OK" or "reference" ... They have little gossip sites where they can "share" information and talk shit about the guys ... so don't worry about it.

I do wana ask something here since the OP brought it up. Likewise i dont hobby every day or every week but whenever time allows. So if provider does not recall you thats understood (its highly unlikely) but if she does remember you what is she going to say after six month.dont see this guy cuz i saw him 6 or 8 months ago. And why is six month mark preferred. I know saftey and comfort issue which is significantly important but if there is way (and believe me there are many and you both dont have to be uncomfortable) a lady here can verify a hobbiest (who's been arround for a while) why ladies still hesitate to see him. Untill and unless he's been on the board for only a few days or there is an ECCIE warrant against him.

I guess that's why the "six-month" rule ... don't worry about it!

Be respectful, let them set the pace, make them feel comfortable, pay them appropriately without any haggling, and express your appreciation for how good they made you feel .... and then follow up with another appointment if you had a good time!

Don't get caught up in the drama on here! You don't even have to do any reviews ... and don't pay attention to those who complain because you don't.

Why are people hesitant to give their current employer as a reference to a potential new employer while they are still working for the "current employer"?

When a provider contacts me about someone I saw that was over 6 months ago, and I remember him, I'll reply that "I have seen him, but it was XXX ago".
