Google Reverse Image Search Stopped Working

WhiteGentleman's Avatar
I use an old Galaxy S5 Android phone for hobbying and surfing porn sites. In Chrome I used to press and hold on pics to get a pop-up where I could open Google reverse image search in another browser window. That stopped working recently. The pop-up menu still presents but when I choose "Search Google for this image" I get the following error. I updated Chrome and tried changing some Chrome settings but no success. I suspect that I got some malware that broke the search, although my anti-Virus app says not so.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The s5 is still a great phone. Uninstall any updates to chrome. See if that works. Also try asking androidforuns.com

Oh shit. I just tried it on my Google pixel. Same issue.

Update. Tried my own advice. Uninstalled the updates via Google play. It works normally now.

I uninstalled Chrome updates. Still broken. Uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome. Still broken. Changed search default to Bing and it works but even obviously stolen pics don't register on Bing. Yahoo search doesn’t have image search for Android, I guess. Firefox browser for Android doesn't either. I posted on a Google Community Board and heard from some others with the same (similar) problem. Still stuck. Nuts.

Thanks for your advice, Tiny.

I used to work a lot better. They changed their algorithms and half the time I do a search on a girl it comes back "A woman" or "bikini" or some sarcastic shit and nothing specific anymore. It used to work a whole lot better.
I've seen a few times where it came back with "Best guess for this image: Call Girl".

tineye.com

imo still king of the hill
I've always found google search to be faster and more reliable than tineye.

Plus if you use Chrome as your browser, a simple right click to select "search Google for this image" avoids having to cut and paste URLs into tineye.
