Good Location to stay in Birmingham??

Im coming to Birmingham tomorrow on a last minute trip. && I've never been. So i was wondering where to stay what is a good hotel to stay in ect

Hoover area

I'd pick Intersection of 280 and 459 over Hoover. Just as nice, more convenient, much less likely to run into cop trouble, and as much shopping, eating, entertainment as anywhere in the city.
