Evolution Of The Hobby

Since we are just starting the new year, I thought I would ask about the evolution of the hobby. For some of you experienced hobbyist and providers, how has the hobby changed since you started hobbying or providing? What was the norm when you saw a lady? Where do you see the hobby in the 5-10 years? What will be the standard for a session in the next few years and beyond?
police by any means but i think its evolution you mean

When I first started hobbying, the norm was calling an agency and hoping for the best. You had no idea what they would look like until you saw them. You could make requests, but most of the time they just wanted to send you someone. When the fun started it was no kissing, mostly bbbj although some were cbj, and one pop.
Needless to say things have changed now. As for the future, it's hard to say. I think the venues for advertising will continue to evolve. Hopefully technology will develop to the point that people can take pictures of themselves without the use of a bathroom mirror.

when I started in my 20's we only had the yellow pages ,so I worked for an agency

They did little or no screening...{I had some bad experiences and even got "raped" by gunpoint once}

I am so thankful things have changed!

I worked a top tier escort service run by a former Playboy bunny and back then, it was ALL outcall. What has changed is the internet and all the forums and boards that have been in use as well as sites such as this one and Erosguide, Lovings, and many other sites. I started in California where Erosguide, Lovings, and Cityvibe were the primary ways of independent advertising back in 1998. And it was slow at first, but then it caught on fast. Bigdoggie.net and other sites like TER I had participated on but never knew strangely about ASPD and later on Eccie.

I think it changed for the better for myself PERSONALLY. I rarely do outcalls. Incalls has made my business so much easier in ways and I can provide far more personal, elegant and classy surroundings here at home, and when I travel this year, in a four star hotel. I bring my candles with me and everything. I love to travel and meet new people, and through the years, I have participated on forums that were in my area, namely Redbook and a few others. But now that I found Eccie and P411 some time ago, I think that it's the internet which helped to change and shape the nature of the business.

I read where in the days even long before I started, in a book by Dolores French about her hooking days, that men responded and corresponded to personal ads which had POB boxes and the men had to write letters, etc, like a dating service just to get the phone number to call. And there have old newspapers, papers I miss from the Bay Area like one called THE SPECTATOR where you could also advertise. For me review boards, discussion forums, and the nature of the high-tech call girl has revolutionized my business and made it so convenient as well as more exciting than just driving around to strange homes and hotel rooms even though the agency gave us a generous 75/25 split. Unfortunately she was busted but I felt I needed guidance in my first days as a provider and then once I felt comfortable on my own, I became independent, (tried the brothel a bit, also revolutionized by the internet too, after all they can show who is working on their sites, but hated it and quit soon) offered incall, and now, am touring.

Yeah I forgot to mention the screening. They pretty much just asked where you were and that was that.

Another thing is the majority were all about business. Not to the point of being rude or anything, but they were hey, lets go, ok that was fun cya later. I had a few that made an effort to make it more personable, but that was the exception. Now days the majority seem to at least engage in a bit of small talk before and maybe after.

It's just me, and some men may just want the get it up, get it in and get off kind of thing, but that makes me feel cheap. I want it to be a good experience for him and I am very good at making one feel at eas and comfortable so small talk and chat with new clients is easy, and as I get to know my regulars we talk about everything under the sun.

When I first started out hobbying (didn't even know it had a name), there were four main avenues for finding a provider. 1) The yellow pages. Go to any major city and look under Escorts or Massage, and one would find numerous ads for agencies. I'm sure there were only 2 or 3 agencies with multiple ads/phone numbers, but it seemed like being a kid in a candy store by looking at the ads. 2) The newspaper. Depending on the city, you could look in the classified ads or even in the sports section where "adult" service ads were prominent. In most cases, these ads were placed by the same people/agencies that placed ads in the Yellow Pages. 3) Massage Parlors/AMPs-- again this was city specific. I spent time in cities where massage parlors pretty much operated like the brothels in Nevada. You walked in the door, got a lineup of girls, picked one (or two) and had your fun. 4) Streetwalkers. Of these 4 methods, I used all except the Streetwalkers. This was back in the 90s and before the internet exploded.

My experiences ran the gamut from exhilarating fun to utter disappointment. Early on, you were pretty much at the mercy of the agency in terms of the type of girl they sent out. Granted, they did provide descriptions and took requests, but you never knew until the girl showed up. Fortunately, I never was sent an ugly or poor provider, so it would seem the agencies did try to please their customers. On the downside, my early experiences seemed mechanical. There was no "GFE" and MSOG was at best an upsell if offered at all.

Some of my better experiences were at the massage parlors. I felt more in control in that I could "select" the partner of my choice. I received better service at the massage parlors. They tended to be more open in terms of activities. Still not GFE, but MSOG was more of the norm along with multiple positions and a tad bit more intimacy. Maybe it had something to do with the girl being felt wanted in that I selected her over the other half-dozen or so girls.

After awhile (by the late 90s), I returned more to the agency scene where things had definitely changed for the better. I had multiple dates with providers who were open to kissing, DATY, BBBJ, 69 and MSOG. No more of the days of "one and done".

I stopped playing in 1999 and didn't return to hobbying until 2007. It was at this point where I stumbled onto the internet as a means to find providers. Thanks to the wonderful people at Google.

As for the future of the hobby, I think it will continue to rely on the internet as the primary means of making contact between clients and providers. However, I also see social networking being an increasing player within the hobby. With this, I also see the potential for a blurring between civie life and the hobby. I think the "sugarbaby/sugardaddy" concept will grow. I think we will see more guys willing to pay a monthly stipend to a provider for a specified number of dates. I also think there will be a potential for a more exclusive relationship between a client and provider. I think more boundaries will be pushed in terms of kinky activities as well as some people streaming their sessions on the web in a way that blurs the hobby with the porn industry as well. Now, I'm not saying everyone will do this. I'm just saying I think more of this will become prevalent within the hobby. There will always be those who stick to the normal way of doing things like we've all been use to.

Back when I started, you literally went to a house where there was a madam and a stable of girls. You picked one out, and went to a room. They washed your dick in a wash basin, and then the fun began. Almost no kissing, but everything was uncovered, and we didn't realize it should be any other way (before AIDS). And it cost $20 for a "half & half" which was an hour of blowjob and fucking. One pop. Out the door.

It reminded of that movie Risky Business and I had such a rush from the anticipation of meeting a woman I've never seen before and had no idea what she looked like. I was very lucky for my first time. She was GFE before I knew what GFE. So I used the paper and yellow pages for about three or four years. I also had a couple of AMP visits sprinkled in but I never got to choose my companion. I took a long break until about 3 or 4 years ago. I found out about craigslist on one of those news shows like 20/20 or something. I was all in. Once I could pick and choose exactly what lady I wanted I felt like it was Christmas. Now many providers have websites that spell out exactly what they will or won't do and I feel safer because of the verification sites as well. But there is a small part of me that misses calling an agency and getting that rush of not knowing what's going to show up at my door good or bad.
It hasn't changed in 3 years.
The term "hobbying" is relative new.
Now, if you are talking about just plain old "paying for pussy", well I am old enough to have gone to the LaGrange Chicken Ranch when I was a Senior in High School.

Four of us went on the "group plan", where you all saw the same Lady for a short time. Keep in mind, about 15 minutes was a long time.

The most memorable thing I remember about the entire experience, (we are talking 48 years ago), was the Lady saying "next" as I was walking out her door.

I can't remember if GFE was on the menu.

Before I got drafted, Clinton Drive Lyons Avenue, 75th Street, and all of the East Side Truck Stops were favorite places to score Hookers.

After my wife passed away, (over 13 years ago), and I decided to try this, I was absolutly shocked as to how much things had changed, all for the better, I might add.

I am really not much of a Hobbyist, I tend to find one Lady I really like, (and who can at least tolerate me), and throw all of my Hobby Funds her way. But I'm having fun, That's what really counts.
