No under 21 may work at strip clubs in any capacity

Is this new Texas thing? Austin thing?
Heard this at two clubs today - new rules. No dancers, bar, door, kitchen,... no under 21. Even girls that have been dancing responsibly for a while are now out of work.

So much for 18 being an adult.

Reminds me of how prohibition passed. I mean, what elected official is going to stand up and oppose this sort of thing?

Anyone have any more info?

That was Texas Senate Bill 315 which was signed into law on 05/24 by the Governor, effective immediately.

Purportedly designed to minimize human trafficking and underage drinking.

As far as being an adult at 18, Texas state laws are all over the map.

In Texas you are considered an “adult” at age 17 for purposes of criminal liability and prosecution in the adult criminal justice system.

You can have sex with a person age 17 but if you film it that’s “child” pornography.

Age 18 to attain the age of majority (vote, enter into contracts etc.)

Age 18 to buy a long gun or ammunition.

Age 18 to buy a handgun in a private sale between individuals.

Age 21 to buy alcohol.

Age 21 to buy tobacco products.

Age 21 to buy a handgun from a federally licensed firearms dealer.

The list goes on……

Quite the patchwork.
Add to that, now, 21 to work at a... how is a strip club even defined legally?

Texas Local Government Code Sec. 243.002. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "sexually oriented business" means a sex parlor, nude studio, modeling studio, love parlor, adult bookstore, adult movie theater, adult video arcade, adult movie arcade, adult video store, adult motel, or other commercial enterprise the primary business of which is the offering of a service or the selling, renting, or exhibiting of devices or any other items intended to provide sexual stimulation or sexual gratification to the customer.

The statute exempts two types of businesses from regulation as a sexually oriented business: (a) a bookstore, movie theater, or video store, as distinguished from the adult version of such a business; and (b) a business operated by or employing a licensed psychologist, licensed physical therapist, licensed athletic trainer, licensed cosmetologist or licensed barber performing functions authorized under their license.

My gosh. By 22 should be ready to retire from stripping and moving on the bigger leagues. That's so un-woke!
All this will do is force 18 - 20 to go hooking. That is fine by me
