Upsacle?

What does "upscale gentlemen only" mean in all these ads I see? Does it mean a certain income bracket? A certain social status? Older men maybe? Or just men that have the fee amount? I really do not understand this marketing tactic. Is it to make customer feel more important? If so, how does paying for it make a man feel better? Or is it that little to no thought goes into advertising in thisw market? I am really confused and would appreciate some clarity.
It's another over used adjective that some posters use. Marketing is all about how one presents oneself, not by how many adjectives you can use.

Definition of upscale
: relating to, being, or appealing to affluent consumers; also : of a superior quality

Doesn't mention anything about truth in advertising. Lol
A term used to make you think they are upscale. Easy to figure out look at reviews or ask where they are staying. If they say US49 trust me they aren't upscale.
Upscale Hotel = in a former life the establishment was a Motel 16 but the franchise was pulled in 1979 when the average number of killins, stabbins and shootens exceeded 1 per 24 hour. Today the establishment is known as Best Holiday Hitton and you can rent by the 30 minutes if you bring your own sheets.
Using "upscale" to describe a person doesn't make the most sense to me. Whenever I make use of the term, it's in reference to my accommodations. If I'm staying at a 3 or 3.5-star hotel, I'll say "upscale." And if it's a 4-star plus hotel, I'll use "luxury."
