On a similar note, there are websites that allow you to sell your gift cards and even trade them. For instance, someone might be willing to buy your $50 best buy gift card for $45 cash.

It's Coinstar which means they probably take a hefty cut. They charge 9% just to convert your change to bills!

Usually it only pays about 40% of the value of the card. I think it may give more for certain higher end stores.
They offered $56 for a Victoria's Secret gift card with $84 on it. Just fyi.

I take my change to these kiosks all the time and have the cash applied to an Amazon Gift Card so there's no fee.

They do have the option of selecting a gift card instead of a receipt to take to the cashier. The gift card has no processing fee but you do pay a percentage to get the cash.

I have used it once. I thought it was a lot easier than rolling up all the change to take it to the bank and I didn't notice how much they took for processing.
