some say his song from 1949, "Fat Man", was the first rock and roll song.. he followed that with gems like "Blueberry Hill", "I'm Walkin'", "Walkin' to New Orleans", and "Blue Heaven".. famously got trapped on his roof during Katrina, rescued by the Coast Guard. IMO, never got his due among the early rock pioneers, although he steered the way.

I went to NOLA a few years after Katrina. Saw his house.
