Village Voice/Backpage Picks Up the $$$ Lost By Craigslist

Interesting information with regards to the beacoup dollars being made by BP after Craigslist dropped it's "Adult Services" category.
One has to wonder where one will go to see provider ads if BP drops their escort/body rubs/adult services category, particularly given e.com's impending demise at the end of this month and the threat of BP facing legal action in the future similar to CL.

The problem with that story is that CL didn't start out as an adult services only site. It was hugely popular for other reasons. BP started out the same way, but didn't take off like CL did. The adult services is a huge part of what keeps BP in business in my opinion.

BP won't lay down like CL did and money is the only reason. CL wasn't charging for ads in the beginning and not until within months of closing did CL decide to charge 5 bucks per ad. BP has always charged for their ads, so they were always making money whereas CL wasn't. BP raised their fees after CL closed it down and now are making a ton of money.

BP made changes in advertising to probably keep the adult services section open so they could make their money. They're not stupid.
