CRS report: Number of Able-bodied Adults on Food Stamps Doubled after Obama Suspended Work Requirement

A dependent voter is a dependable voter.

From the article:

“This report once again confirms that President Obama has severely gutted the welfare work requirements that Americans have overwhelmingly supported since President Clinton signed them into law,” Cantor said in an emailed statement. “It’s time to reinstate these common-sense measures, and focus on creating job growth for those in need.”

Under the rule adopted in 1996, food stamps for able-bodied adults without dependents were limited to three months in a 36-month period unless the participant in the program “works at least 20 hours a week; participates in an employment and training program for at least 20 hours per week; or participates in a (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) ‘workfare’ program for at least 20 hours per week.”

The more people you can get dependent on government, the more you can demagogue that the other side wants to take your benefits away.

don't you feel bad when you lie. what obama really did was lift the federal requirements so the states could set their own.
I agree and disagree,

Many people do take advantage of the system so the people who actually need it in there life it is near impossible to get the benefits.

The states all have their own form of food stamps health care DHS SRS Sooner care Uni care

instead of trying to make a unitized program which ma or may not work depending on different locations, put money into what is already WORKING and in place.

Then, BigLouise, why has the number of people on food stamps skyrocketed?

And Ont, I don't care if you agree with me or not, you are gorgeous and I must see you soon.

food stamps have skyrocketed since the start of the recession ... when 700,000 people lose their job in a month what else is new ?

now if the newly elected republican house had kept their platform promise and focused on creating jobs like Boonheader promised things would be different ...

observe ..

You guys, if the work requirement is gone, there is nothing stopping anyone from getting aid EASILY. It's not supposed to be easy. Why would anyone ever give up something that is easy and free?
If your state is giving out free shit I want to move...

I am glad to know that somebody understands that if you do not have the money you cant spend it.
Balancing the budget by cuts across the board is what had to be done.
Unlike Democrats that would raise taxes to keep on spending.

Basically he allowed the states to do what they wanted.

When I pointed this out you came back with the argument that the number of people on food stamps had gone up. The transfer of the rules from the government to the states had little to do with people getting food stamps. Somewhat related but one does not have much to do with the other.

As I said if you were an educated man you would know this and not make silly statements such as you have.
