Fun Things To Do This Summer

All the Texas related magazines have an article with this title. Since I am new here, please tell me some of things that were probably not included in those articles.

Class, your writing assignment is "What I plan to do on summer vacation"

If they still have any left HEB had a calendar with Many Austin related events. Included websites for many of them.

The thing I like about it is that it gives you plenty of advanced notice. You don't need to wait for a web-ad or magazine article.

I'm going to Maine mid-July . . . amazing place to be in the summer. My Dad has a house up on Mount Desert Island . . . great place and time to escape the summer heat. Hope he's able to make it this year . . . he's frail.

If you can squeak it in I'd suggest visting the House on the Rock. Totally unreal and freaky.

My Austin Summer Bucket List:

1. Spend one weekend a day at Lake Travis

2. Try to do more things in the Austin area because I still haven't experienced all of Austin yet.

http://thedaytripper.com/ has a good TV show about shit to do in Texas. It started out as what to do from Austin, but they had to branch out to keep fresh episodes.

Moving from Coed Discussions to The Sandbox, since this isn't hobby-related.

There is some interesting country to drive through to just enjoy the drive if you like that sort of stuff. Out west is the hill country. Sort of dry and desolate, but interesting. The "devil's backbone" on state highway 32 west of San Marcos is nice. Just driving west from Austin in most directions gets you to country that is interesting.

Driving east through the backroads has an interesting old timey farmland air that can be interesting. I find the old churches and small towns sort of interesting, especially right around sunrise or sunset.
