Would the Republican Party survive Trumps defeat?

If Donald Trump loses the election, to hear him and his campaign tell it, the fate of the Republican Party should be the least of our concerns: His defeat would spell the end of the nation itself and all that we hold dear.

But let’s assume that Trump and company are exaggerating and that the country continues to exist. What would the GOP look like after he loses — again?

This scenario seems to be getting a lot of attention lately, perhaps because Trump himself has been emphasizing that if he loses — again — it will be because of fraud — again. Such rhetoric does not exude confidence in his prospects.

Some observers seem to think the GOP might not survive a Trump defeat. Under the headline “Potential Trump loss threatens destruction of modern GOP,” Axios predicted that the party would be plagued by an “identity crisis,” a “brutal power struggle” and “years in the wilderness.” Why? Because “Never before has a party’s identity been so deeply entwined with the fate, fortunes and flaws of one man.”

As this is a post about a post Nov 5th, Loss- please remember to keep the comments related to the GOP and a possible Trump loss, vs. rhetoric of doom and collapse or 'whataboutism'. Not looking for boasts about the polls or prognosis of "never gonna happen".

Serious replies on the state of the GOP are definitely welcome.
If Trump loses next month, legitimately or not, I foresee things like the rise in ranked choice voting and the abolition of the Electoral College making the GOP more of a regional and local party for the next generation. No way they get another candidate in the White House. They may hold slim majorities of the House, at times, but I think they don't sniff a Senate majority past the next election cycle, and SCOTUS will be remade with nominations even more "progressive" than before (either by replacement, or adding new seats).

One could say it was so easy for Trump to become the head of the GOP, as a former labor Democrat, because the GOP already had an identity crisis of sorts. Prior to Trump, being the party of endless wars and corporate welfare wasn't a great sell to the American people anymore. I find it interesting how the Democrats (or at least the DNC) have now folded in the "endless wars and corporate welfare" part of the old GOP platform, into its own, and kept the "justice" wing of the party in check. With no more GOP boogeyman, the Democrats may face their own splintering and internal conflict, as I don't think without a unifying lightening rod like Trump, they will all stay on the same page. Maybe the end result is finally breaking the duopoly of political power in the United States...and perhaps that will be the silver lining that comes out of all of this.

I hope it does, and that MAGA breaks off into its own party, as well as the ultra left.

The two party system is choking this country but at present there's no way around it. Hence Trump.

If Trump loses the knives come out. The Trump machine has taken over the administration of the party and it’s money apparatus. That won’t last long after another defeat.

When trump loses the election, and after a temporary repeat of four years ago (64 court cases and countless recounts) the maga movement will slowly fade into the swamp they have created.

I hope the republican party will grow a backbone and return to the Ronald Reagan conservative years, plus work across the aisle with the Dems to get bills passed for a better America.

The ones with the stage IV TDS are getting a little bit ahead of themselves. Day by day, little by little the Harris ship is sinking.

These impeachments were a total waste of time knowing they couldn't possibly get the votes from the senate to have him removed from office. They raided his home, had people run for office with the one goal of harassing this man and his family and putting him in jail with their kangaroo courts. FBI agents going through Melania's underwear. Two assassination attempts, one almost killed him and 1/4 fucking democrats wanted him killed. https://www.news-shield.com/news/nat...76b58d8cb.html

The day after he's elected, 2 month notices go out to wray, garland, mayorkas, that transgender freak levine among others are gone the day after he's inaugurated. And hopefully this country I love turns into a complete nation again, versus being a banana republic where a coup was executed (now before you dems get upset by my term of coup, when it looks like a coup to russia, china, N. korea, and our best buddies in Iran, then in the eyes of our enemies, it's a coup). On the world stage, our nation has become a laughing stock, so as harris says, it's time for change. Lastly, Trump is an arrogant asshole and at times if full of shit, but better him than the eunuchs currently running this country.

Why not cut a few checks for Lebanon and Iran, but fuck the people in our country who have had their lives and homes destroyed due to hurricanes. Fucking November election night can't possibly get here fast enough. One family in Asheville N. Carolina had their home destroyed and got a massive $300 check, not even the supposed $750. I guess America first is a completely foreign concept for dems.

Did I miss the election or something? What’s all this “when” Trump loses BS about? Wishful thinking? Last time I looked he was poised to win this thing and win it big.

Will Kumalot go back to sucking dicks again?

This is a what if thread. What happens if Trump loses? Let’s not argue the election here.

Just know her biggest supporters are putin, xi, fat kid from N. korea, and the rulers of iran, which if any dems had any common sense and weren't blinded by their TDS, would tell them something.

I'm thinking they will rally again and flood the Capitol with maga tears and all drown. No FEMA money available to help cause Johnson won't respond to Biden's call for a special session regarding funding.

good grief fellas .. all this hand wringing is amusing. the fledgling GOP (formerly the Whig party) survived Lincoln's assassination. they'll "survive" Trump too
