Any dog trainers in the house?

My puppy has a really nasty habit that I really need to break her of but do not know how to properly discipline her for this, Its gross so I don't want to post it for the world because some might have weak stomachs, I know when I first saw I literally threw up. I don't believe in hitting dogs and she catches on really quick, but this is a very sensitive thing because if I discipline her I am worried she will get confused and I will back-track on some of the other training I have given her. If anyone has ANY experience with training dogs please please please pm me. Thank you so so so much!

I'm no dog trainer, but I've owned a couple of wonderful animals over the years. In a nutshell, if you don't catch them in the act of doing whatever it is you don't wish them to do AND make the correction to the behavior in the proper manner right there & then....there's not much you can do.

The greater the time delta between the act & the attempted correction, the less effective it will be. No matter how "smart" you believe them to be...the correlation is lost on them.

Google is your friend on this one! See articles such as

For details. Good luck!
I'm no professional but. I own 3 dogs and I love them!, I think I done a good job training them to go bathroom, some basic tricks.
Barbie, do remember that regardless of your feelings, this is still a dog. What is gross to you as a Human is normal behavior to her.

Also keep in mind that dogs are social animals, and you are simply another member of the "pack". Every pack has a hiearchy. If your dog has already established herself as the "leader", that means any discipline you impart toward her will be met with anger.

How do I know all of this. Because I finally had to hire a profesional, (Man's Best Friend)", to finally get my black Dachund from chewing up any and everything.

They did cure her of that, but she still is the leader of our "pack". She was born dominate, and you can't train that out of her.

This is so wide open that it's not even a challenge.

When training my dogs I alllways ask "What woul Ceaser do?" I love the Dog Whisperer, he has a lot of good advice. And on a side note, he often helps celebreties with their pet issues but I don't believe he has had a provider on his show yet. Might be a nice change.

Victoria Stillwell. I'd teach her a thing or two!

Oh, Wait! This isn't the "which celebrity do you wish" thread, is it?
