occupation? why

why do some providers ask about your occupation?

I think its like one of those 'job interview' questions...1). Its ok to take company supplies home, such as pens and paper clips, because the company can afford it (Yes) (No).

I've yet to figure out why they ask. I can say Banker, Ditch Digger, Racecar Driver...

I'm always amused by guys asking about gals screening methods.
Savannah's (love ya hun) first response is bluntly correct.
The gals are the gatekeepers to our hobby world so just answer their screening qs, or go with Rosie and her 5 associates.
Besides, does any guy want to have his eardrum broken when a gal uses a fireplace poker to hit a homerun on her burner phone, cause she got tired of a guys screening fails?
(True story as I helped a gal pick up phone pieces. Don't know if the guy had ear drum damage though.)

Lottery Winner / Hookerfucker usually piques their interest.

George Carlin nailed it, though:

One of the screening questions IS
OCCUPATION.
So, is ECCIE a pimp by association?? Because dear, I don't have a PIMP. But I often have newbies fill out that screening application.
Hmmmmm...
Hah...like savanahs response. If I were screening any cross reference is helpful. If you give to a trusted provider it's another easy way to verify you are who you say you are. I don't think it's a judgement thing. It's just another way to cross reference that's usually anonymous.

If you don't want to tell us, then don't. Some of us need it for screening. I thought this was quite obvious but I guess not...
